We are just up the street from the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Royal Yacht as well as the new Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre.
The whole of the Northern Edinburgh area along the coastline is being redeveloped with an eye to creating the Riviera of the North to compliment the City Centre once called the Athens of the North.

Walk from Edinburgh Castle
The walk from Edinburgh castle to the Brig O'Doon Guest House is a great way to see the city centre and takes about 25 minutes.
Starting in the heart of the beautiful old town, the walk takes you down the Mound in between Princess Street Gardens, over Princes Street (the city's main shopping area) and down through the majestic New Town (mostly built in the late 18th Century). The walk then takes you past the east entrance to the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and on to Ferry Road and the Brig O'Doon Guest House.

Taxi from Princess Street, Waverley Train Station & St Andrews Bus Station
Taking a taxi from the centre of town should take about 5 minutes (depending on trafic) and costs around £5 or £6.

By bus from Edinburgh Airport
There is a regular airport bus to the city centre, terminating at Waverley Train Station.

By bus from Waverley Train Station
The number 23 bus runs from Hanover Street in the city centre to just round
the corner from the Brig O'Doon Guest House. It takes around 10 minutes and the adult fare is 80p.The directions below are more detailed than they need to be, it is really just a case of getting on the No 23 bus going in the right direction and asking the driver to let you off at Clark St.
Directions
- From Waverley Train Station, walk to Princes Street and turn left
- Take the second road on the right, this should be Hanover Street
- Walk up Hanover Street. From the first bus stop on the right, take bus number 23 heading away from Princes Street (heading for Cannonmills, Goldenacre and Trinity)
- The bus should go all the way down to a roundabout at the bottom of Dundas Street and take a right on to Howard Place/Inverleith Row, then right at the end of Inverleith Row on to Ferry Road and then second left on to Clark Street. Alight at the first bus stop, at the very start of Clark Street.
- Walk back to Ferry Road, turn left and Brig O'Doon Guest House is approximately 50 yards on, on the left

By Car from the A1 (Newcastle and the South)
Directions
- Stay on the A1 all the way into Edinburgh city centre, the last stretch is called London Road (B1350)
- At the end of London Road there is a roundabout, turn right taking the second exit on to Leith Walk
- Go straight on past Annandale Street and McDonald Road, then turn left on to Pilrig Street
- Turn left at the second set of traffic lights on to Ferry Road
- Go straight on for a couple of minutes until there are playing fields on your left, the Brig O'Doon Guest House is on the right, 264 Ferry Road

By Car from the A702 (M74, M6)
Directions
- Stay on the A702 all the way into Edinburgh city centre, the last stretch is Lothian Road, at the T junction at the bottom turn right on to Princes Street
- All traffic turns immediately left on to South Charlotte Street
- Turn right at the second set of traffic lights on to Queen Street
- Go on past Queen Street Gardens West, then turn next left on to Queen Street Gardens East
- Continue straight on until the roundabout with a clock tower at Cannonmills, turn right on to Howard Place, this becomes Inverleith Row
- Continue straight on until the road ends in a T junction with traffic lights, turn right on to Ferry Road, the Brig O'Doon Guest House is approximately 50 yards on, on the left, just past Clark Road

By Car from the M90 (Forth Road Bridge, Perth and the North)
Directions
- Follow A90 towards Edinburgh City Centre until you see signs for Leith & Granton.
- When you see a Kwik Fit Garage the road forks left (Leith & Granton) & right (city centre). Take left fork on to Telford Road
- Follow Telford Road to a large roundabout (Crewe Toll). Take the 3rd exit at roundabout on to Ferry Road
- The Brig O'Doon Guest House is 1 mile from the roundabout on the left hand side of the road just after Clark Road

From M8/M9:
Directions
- Follow airport signs and A8 until you see signs for Leith.
- You will see a Shell Garage ahead on your left. Turn left just before the garage on to Maybury Road
- Go straight on to 2nd roundabout (Barnton Roundabout) then turn right on to Queensferry Road
- When you see a Kwik Fit Garage the road forks left (Leith & Granton) & right (city centre). Take left fork on to Telford Road
